Who are We Love Manchester?

We Love Manchester Charity are the only grant-giving charity dedicated to supporting Manchester’s communities and young people.

We Love Manchester supports ambitious young Mancunians to take their next steps to success, and they empower communities across the city to improve lives in their neighbourhoods. Learn more about who they are here.

Their work

We Love Manchester supports and inspires Mancunians in many ways all year round, and their two biggest programmes are the Stronger Communities Fund and Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund.

The first supports exciting projects in every part of the city, from sports clubs to community gardens, and the second removes barriers to success for young Mancunians, with funded ambitions so far covering entrepreneurship, academia, trades and sporting excellence.

Our Partnership

We value the differences made by We Love Manchester within our communities and for the next generation of Mancunians, and we believe it goes alongside the work Manchester Active does with the sport, physical activity and health sector in our city.

We will be working in partnership to encourage and inspire Mancunians to move more each day by being a referral partner in We Love Manchester’s grant programmes and collaborating with them on fundraising events – like the Great Manchester Run 2026 VIP Experience, which is open for registration now.

We Love Manchester and Manchester Active have developed a strong relationship, and have worked collaboratively across our city, providing funding on a variety of projects across the sport, physical activity, and health sectors for a number of years.

Manchester Rising Stars Fund

The Fund aims to give young Mancunians a helping hand to take opportunities that may otherwise be out of their reach.

Limited finances can be a barrier to many young people, and we recognise that a little financial support at the right time can make a big difference when starting out on a career, self-employment or learning path.

Manchester Young Lives

Manchester Young Lives have been at the forefront of youth services in Manchester for many years, especially with young people in danger of social exclusion.

We Love Manchester Charity has supported Manchester Young Lives for a few years now, via the Sir Howard Bernstein Endowment Fund, in order to expand the offer MYL gives to 16-19 year olds on their Employability Programme.

This bespoke programme provides invaluable opportunities to these young people, read some of their success stories by clicking on the button below.

Ghyll Head Family Breaks

Every year We Love Manchester Charity fund Manchester families with complex needs to leave the city, and travel to Lake Windermere to experience a therapeutic family course.

The break takes place at Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre, where they engage in a range of outdoor activities, building confidence, self-esteem and new skills.

This is an incredibly positive experience for everyone involved – family bonds are strengthened, lasting friendships are formed and the young people and their parents leave with an experience they won’t forget.
