2024 – A Year in Review
Manchester Active delivers the City’s Sport and Physical Activity Strategy prioritising initiatives that address health inequalities and creates inclusive opportunities that inspire all to move more in the heart of local neighbourhoods.
Our vision is to enable and encourage Manchester communities to prioritise health, lead active lifestyles and thrive, in a city that understands the significance of sport and the role of physical activity as a catalyst for change for all Mancunians.
In the year Manchester was crowned the first-ever European Capital of Cycling, we started our ride to bring about a significant culture shift in attitudes towards all types of cycling. For all. Adults, young people and children. For those new to cycling, lapsed cyclists or those wanting to try, ensuring a cycling legacy well beyond this year.
2024 was a year that promised, and delivered, so much across the sport, leisure and physical activity landscape.
2024 has been a year of remarkable achievement for Manchester Active. A year of fostering a culture of health and physical activity while propelling the city as a world-class major sporting destination.
We continue to be impressed with the dedication and hard work of our incredible team, coupled with the invaluable support of our stakeholders and dedication of local community delivery partners, working in collaboration to make such an impressive headline video possible.
Together, we have delivered a legacy of sporting excellence, health and wellbeing initiatives, and community engagement that will benefit future generations of Mancunians.
As we look forward, we’re excited about what 2025 will bring, the opportunities that lie ahead and the continued positive impact we will have to inspire all of Manchester to move more.
