One of US | an Evaluation of the Community Led Initiatives Workstream of Winning Hearts & Minds
Winning Hearts and Minds is a programme which aims to improve the mental and heart health of people living in Manchester.
The programme is a multi-agency, whole system approach, with more intense work in the most disadvantaged communities in North Manchester, in order to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
Reflecting on the first five years of the programme, a realist evaluation was carried out to analyse the impact of the Community Led Initiatives workstream. This evaluation is summarised in our latest report: ‘One of Us: An evaluation of the Community Led Initiatives workstream of Winning Hearts and Minds’.

Community Led Initiatives provides on the ground support to people in the community; builds trust and relationships within the community; collates the knowledge, learning and understanding direct from the community, and shares insight with the systems and leaders who can effect change on a policy and strategic level.
Included in the report are also a number of case studies, that bring the programme to life, and show the importance of the Winning Hearts and Minds ways of working.
The report also sets out the vision for the future of Winning Hearts and Minds, building on the learning so far, and ensuring communities are at the heart of the design of future services that will impact and improve their health and wellbeing.
