British Athletics Championships Manchester 2020

We’re pleased to join in with British Athletics to announce that the Müller British Athletics Championships will take place here in Manchester on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September 2020.

The competition and regulations will be adhered to government guidelines for competitors and those helping to stage the championship.

Executive Member for Skills, Culture and Leisure, Councilor Luthfur Rahman, said: “Although Mancunians will sadly not be able to attend in person, we’re delighted to be working with UK Athletics to enable the 2020 Müller British Athletics Championships event to go ahead. As a world-class sporting city with elite facilities such as Manchester Regional Arena, plus a strong commitment to encouraging and widening sporting participation, Manchester is the natural choice to play host to this prestigious event.”

EVENT HELD BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AT THE MANCHESTER REGIONAL ARENA

CEO of UK Athletics, Joanna Coates said “we’re delighted to be able to offer our athletes an opportunity to compete and still become British Champions at the end of the summer in what has been the most unprecedented of circumstances for all sport.”. She commended BBC for supporting their sport under the Friday evening lights, and also to Manchester Regional Arena for their investment into the facility and working with them to stage this event in such challenging times.

THE CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BE BROADCAST ON BBC2 ON BOTH FRIDAY NIGHT 19:00 – 21:00 AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON 14:00 – 16:30

We’re excited to welcome and accommodate the championship at the Regional Arena and hope for a healthy return for fans at sports events next year and to welcoming spectators to next year’s trials scheduled for 26-27 June. Watch their full announcement and stay tuned for more info #JoinTheJourney.
